Dr. Ty Leonard
Dr. H. Ty Leonard joined UMHB in the spring of 2004. He is a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word where he majored in Philosophy. He received his M.A. in Community Counseling and his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with a minor in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Leonard has been a practicing therapist since 1998. He has worked in various agencies and worked with a wide variety of mental health problems and various populations. He has also served as the mental health coordinator for a private company in San Antonio. Dr. Leonard has also had experience as a business consultant in Taiwan. His he has received training in Hypnotherapy, EMDR, and Breathwork therapy. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. As a faculty member in the Graduate Counseling and Psychology Department, he serves as a professor and the clinical coordinator for the clinical instruction component of the master’s degree programs and for the Community Life Center, which is a community counseling center and graduate clinical training facility on the UMHB campus. He is the proud father of Jett Chou Leonard, who was born April 30th, 2007.
