Belton, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has scheduled four (4) informational meetings to discuss and promote their doctor of education degree (Ed.D.) program known as Leadership in Educational ADministration (LEAD). These meetings will be held on: Tuesday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lord Conference Center of the Parker Academic Center at the UMHB campus in Belton, TX
Wednesday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the LEO Conference Center at Leander ISD in Leander, TX
Monday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at Killeen ISD Administration Building in Killeen, TX
Tuesday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bowie Room at Education Service Center Region 12 in Waco, TX
The purpose of the LEAD informational meetings is to inform, assist, and recruit people who are interested in pursuing a doctor of education degree (Ed.D.) at UMHB.
According to Dr. Marlene Zipperlen, Dean of the College of Education, there is a tremendous need for this doctoral program in Central Texas.
"The United States Labor Bureau projected that by the year 2014, professional positions in education and health services will increase by 30.6 percent. UMHB is positioning itself in the field of education to provide well-trained and degreed persons to step into those newly created jobs," said Zipperlen.
UMHB is proud to offer its LEAD Doctor of Education degree and is currently serving 37 doctoral students representing school districts or institutions of higher education in Texas and Oklahoma. LEAD is a 60-hour program emphasizing educational leadership at the P-12 and Higher Education levels. Courses are delivered in a nontraditional (one weekend per month) cohort format to enable currently employed educational leaders and practitioners to pursue a doctoral degree. Cohort members come from both the P-12 and Higher Education environments. Graduates will be thoroughly prepared to engage in leadership, collaboration, decision-making, research, and reform initiatives impacting our educational institutions. Travel for two weeks each summer is required and is designed to provide state, national, and international perspectives on educational issues and leadership.
The LEAD program represents strategic and intentional effort by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to shape the hearts and minds of the professionals leading our educational institutions. UMHB's LEAD program is approved and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
