Fall Homecoming 2008

Belton, Texas - The Class of 1958 will celebrate their 50th class reunion during the annual University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Homecoming on Friday and Saturday, November 7-8. In addition to the Class of 1958, there will be five class decades gathering on campus for class reunions. The theme of the UMHB Homecoming is "Back in the Day."

The events begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with Homecoming Chapel. Pastor John Cannon, Class of 1983, will be speaking during the Homecoming Chapel. John is pastor of Harvest Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Leroy Kemp of Belton will receive a honorary membership to the Alumni Association at this event. Following chapel, the Alumni Association will present the Parker Award to the Whitis/Norwine/Adams families at an Alumni luncheon.

The events for Friday evening will begin with an Alumni Dinner, during which the Association will present the Distinguished Alumni Award to Mary Alice Cowley Marshall of Temple. Marshall is a graduate of the class of 1929. Later in the evening the alumni and students will gather for a pep rally, burning of the letters, fireworks and the traditional dessert party.

On Saturday, prior to the Homecoming game, events including Breakfast with President Jerry G. Bawcom, Historical Phila and Royal Academia receptions, and an alumni and friends 5K Fun Run. An Alumni tailgate party will precede the game, which will include a hamburger lunch provided by Outback Steakhouse in Killeen. Reservations for all events must be made through the Alumni Office.

The Homecoming football game will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Tiger Field in Belton. The Crusaders will take on Howard Payne University.
