UMHB in Top Schools of U.S. News & World Report

Belton, Texas -- The U.S. News & World Report: America's Best Colleges for 2005, released this week, indicates that the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is among the “Best Universities” in the Western region offering master's degrees.UMHB is ranked in the top tier of the Best Universities, Master's-West.The publication changed the ranking system this year, placing the top half of colleges in the top tier ranking.The top tier includes 63 universities, followed by Tiers 3 and 4.
According to the publication, the colleges and universities are listed and ranked by region, based on criteria such as reputation, class size, graduation rates, ACT/SAT scores, and other elements.
One of the mostimportant categories is class size.In this category, 52 percent of the classes at UMHB have less than 20 students, and only 2 percent of classes have 50 or more students. The student/faculty ratio at UMHB is 16/1.
According to University officials, it is a key focus at UMHB to keep class sizes small to give personal attention to students.
The magazine will hit newsstands this weekend.
Classes at the university begin on Wednesday.
